The UBC Football Academic Centre is a modern academic pavilion overlooking the football field on the UBC Vancouver Campus. The new learning facility is the first of its kind in Canada and provides players with an area to focus on academics during their time at university.
The centre is comprised of offices, a multi-purpose academic lounge with flexible seating from breakout spaces, a large meeting room, a kitchen, and washrooms. Large garage-style doors have been installed in the academic lounge, allowing users to open up the space and improve visibility of the playing field.
The project made great use of wood, with 62' glulam beams with glulam posts being used for the structure and wooden finishes on both the interior and exterior. The walls and the roof made use of high-performance, state-of-the-art Insulspan Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs).
