Located in the heart of Vancouver's West End, 981 Davie is a 17-storey mixed-use development delivering 154 affordable rental units to one of Vancouver's most vibrant and in-demand neighbourhoods. The building includes 2-storeys of ground-level retail, 15-storeys of affordable housing, and 3 levels of below-grade parking, representing a significant addition to Metro Vancouver's affordable housing supply.
The development will also be home to the new QMUNITY centre, a dedicated space supporting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Vancouver. Residents and the broader community will benefit from a range of indoor and outdoor amenity spaces, including inner courtyards, children's play areas, communal seating, and urban agriculture areas.
As general contractor, Kindred Construction brought deep expertise in complex Vancouver residential construction to this project. During pre-construction, our team evaluated prefabricated panelized exterior wall systems and mass timber construction methods to accelerate delivery timelines and reduce costs, two increasingly important priorities in BC's housing market.
981 Davie is built to Passive House standards and features superior air tightness, passive solar shading, high-efficiency heating and cooling, and heat recovery ventilation, resulting in lower energy costs for residents and a reduced carbon footprint for the building over its lifetime.
