PROJECTS UNDERWAY
Thrangu Monastery: After 18 months of design development/pre-construction work, the construction phase of this 20,000 square foot Buddhist monastery has begun. Thrangu Monastery is the first Tibetan-style temple ever to be built in Canada. This 20,000 square foot structure will blend modern construction technology with the aesthetics of a traditional Tibetan structure. A monastery consultant from Nepal to worked closely with the project Architect to ensure that the monastery’s design and construction adhere to the visual and functional requirements of a Tibetan religious structure.

Evelyn Drive Presentation Centre, West Vancouver: A new presentation/sales centre for Millennium Developments Ltd.’s Evelyn Drive residential development to be located in West Vancouver. This 5,600 square foot structure features a single-level glass, wood and steel structure, along with a two-storey concrete structure with decorative wood cladding. The interior will feature a a sales office and pre-sale showrooms. This 2-month project will begin in early January, 2008.
Walton Hotel, Vancouver: We currently involved in the 3-month pre-construction phase of this major renovation to an existing SRO hotel located in Vancouver’s Downtown East Side. The Walton Hotel project is one of the 10 SRO hotels purchased by the Province and slated for renovation. We are currently working closely with BC Housing to determine the project’s ultimate scope of work. This will be a particularly challenging project from the standpoint that the hotel’s tenants will be occupying the premises during the construction phase.
Caro Analytical Services, Richmond: Caro is an environmental testing and analysis firm with offices in Kelowna and Richmond. Affiliated with Levelton Consultants Ltd. their current Richmond office is actually located with Levelton’s own facility. We are currently working the Client to develop a scope of work and budget for their new office/testing facility which is to be located next door to Levelton. The construction phase is expected to commence in late January/early February, 2008.
Fraser Health Authority, Langley & Coquitlam: Two Community Tertiary Rehabilitation Mental Health Facilities, Coquitlam & Langley: This project will involve the construction of two new mental health rehabilitation facilities. Construction of the Langley Memorial Cottage is expected to commence in January, 2008 after completion of the hazmat/demolition of an existing building on site. Construction of Cypress Lodge - on the Riverview Hospital site - will begin sometime later in the first quarter of 2008.
Cypress Lodge will be approximately 14,725 square feet, and Langley Memorial Cottrage will be approximately 17,780 square feet. Both facilities will be based on the recently finished Cottonwood Lodge at Riverview Hospital (for which we were the Project Manager).
New Private Residence, Whistler:This new 7,000 square-foot custom home will feature cast in place concrete and wood-framed construction with natural stone exterior cladding and interiors featuring domed plaster ceilings. Other features include a private boat launch, an extensive geo-exchange system, and will house over 200 pieces of museum quality furniture, tapestries, light fixtures, restored cabinetry and antique landscape items.
BMW Store/Mini Cooper Car Preparation Facility, Vancouver: This new car preparation facility is located in an existing wood-framed warehouse facility at 780-790 Terminal Avenue. It will provide service for Vancouver’s BMW Store and Yaletown Mini Cooper dealership and will feature a showroom, car wash, preparation garage and retail component. Currently under construction, this project is due for completion in January, 2008. Once completed we will then begin working on an extensive tenant improvement of the existing BMW Store Service Centre located at West 5th Avenue and Burrard Street.
Terminal Avenue Car Wash, Vancouver: “That’s a car wash?” That’s what you’ll be saying when you see this ultra-cool building courtesy of Proscenium Architecture + Interiors Inc. It’s a far cry from the typical metal box at the local gas station. The car wash, located at 750 Terminal Avenue, features lots of glass, steel, cast-in-place concrete, and a paint job-friendly friction-tunnel washing system that will actually clean your car, not just knock off some loose dust like those touchless washing systems. Construction is in progress and expected to be completed by mid-June, 2008.
RECENTLY COMPLETED PROJECTS
The TransContinental Restaurant, Downtown Vancouver: This new restaurant is the latest venture being undertaken by Steamworks owner, Eli Gershkovitch. The restaurant occupies the southeast corner of the main level of Waterfront Station on Cordova Street. This venue boasts an upscale bar and restaurant with extensive millwork and an interior design that reflects the original turn-of-the-century design characteristics of this heritage building.
Private Residence, Richmond:A 12,000 square foot wood framed villa-style home, featuring a natural stone exterior, tile roofs, vaulted corridors, an outdoor tennis court and pool, pool house, and an auto courtyard with a central fountain. This project also includes a 3,200 square foot barn.
Private Penthouse, Downtown Vancouver: A 3,500 square-foot, 3-storey penthouse renovation. The existing 1980’s post modern interior was replaced with a French neo-classical design. The interior design objective is to provide a suitable showcase for the Owners’ extensive art and period furniture collection. Discretely integrated into the penthouse is a state-of-the-art electrical and audio-visual system complete with central lighting control, drapery systems and home theatre components.
